Covid safe: Australian government launches coronavirus tracing app

The Australian government has launched Covidsafe, an app that traces every person running the app who has been in contact with someone else using the app who has tested positive for coronavirus in the previous few weeks, in a bid to automate coronavirus contact tracing, and allow the easing of restrictions. The national cabinet said that the app could be a valuable tool “if the numbers increase and the application is widely taken up”. Health minister Greg Hunt said the government’s target for uptake of the app is 40% of the population. Morrison said automatic contact tracing would be a key component in states and territories easing some restrictions on “high-value, low-risk economic activities” after the next four weeks. He compared using the app to buying bonds during the war. “ In the war, people bought war bonds to get in behind the national effort. Microsoft Teams has reached 32 million users as remote work surges

Microsoft Corp said on Thursday that Teams, its chat and conferencing app, reached 32 million users as of March 11 amid a surge in remote work by companies around the world in response to the coronavirus outbreak. The number was up sharply from November, when Microsoft said it had 20 million daily active users. Teams competes directly with collaboration app maker Slack Technologies Inc, which said in October that it had 12 million daily active users. Slack did not update that figure during its earnings announcement on March 12, but said four of its five largest deals in the most recent quarter were won against Microsoft Teams . Microsoft also rolled out several features designed to help with telemedicine and working from home, such as bookings application for Teams to help hospitals manage virtual appointments. “ As organizations around the world are changing the way they work in response to the [coronavirus] situation, we’re going to learn a tremendous amount,” Satya
