Elon Musk’s SpaceX Bans Zoom After Security And Privacy Warnings
Elon
Musk’s SpaceX has banned the utilization of Zoom after growing
concerns over the video conferencing app’s privacy and security.
Consistent with Reuters, Musk’s firm announced it had disabled the
app during a company memo.
Following
a warning from U.S. enforcement about Zoom’s safety, an email sent
on March 28 by SpaceX said: “We understand that a lot of folks were
using this tool for conferences and meeting support. Please use
email, text or phone as alternate means of communication.”
NASA
, which is one among Space X ’s biggest customers, also prevents
its employees from using Zoom.
Zoom
security and privacy issues are emerging thick and fast
Zoom
security and privacy issues still emerge. Yesterday, I wrote how
researchers found Zoom security issues affecting both Windows and Mac
computers. This is often additionally to misleading marketing on
whether Zoom offers end to finish encryption, and a surge in
uninvited guests “Zoom bombing” people’s chats.
Zoom
is facing an investigation by the U.S attorney general over its
security and privacy, while a category action lawsuit has been
launched after it emerged the firm was sending data to Facebook Vice
News reported.
As
news about Zoom continues to arrive, Elon Musk’s SpaceX won’t be
the last company to ban the video conferencing app.
But
Zoom knows it’s an enormous amount of labor to try to regain–and
in some cases simply gain–people’s trust. I reported earlier
today how Zoom has made a series of security and privacy moves
including pausing all new feature releases.
As
a part of this, it’s also backtracked on a scary “attention
tracking” feature that allowed your boss to ascertain if you had
clicked far away from the meeting screen as concerns over privacy
increased.
